International Women’s Day Best Practices
There’s no single ‘right way’ to celebrate women’s empowerment. But there are a few best practices that you can follow to mark the occasion in both an effective and respectful way in the workplace.
Not sure where to start? Try taking just a few minutes over your morning coffee to learn about the history of IWD and the struggles that women continue to face around the world.
And then, of course, there’s your team. What does IWD mean to them? What does it mean for your company? And what can you do to help create a more inclusive workplace where gender knows no boundaries?
Aligning with your team is a sure way to understand how they want to recognize and celebrate the day, and boost motivation to take action.
How to celebrate International Women’s Day with your team
This day is all about coming together to make a positive, lasting change. So what better way than to celebrate International Women’s Day 2023 with your team?
There are some fantastic ways to promote and celebrate gender equality in all its forms. And we’re not just talking face-to-face events either. There are tons of virtual women’s day celebrations to make the most of, and you can even keep it simple inside your own workplace.
Here are our top team celebration ideas for this year’s big day.
1. Create awareness
It’s important that you extend the invitation to everyone. While most activities will target women and gender parity, it’s essential that people of all gender identities are involved in the conversations and become allies for justice.
It’s always a great idea to invite your male teammates and colleagues to your IWD celebrations and let them know that they’re part of the solution, too.
2. Support female founders
Many aspiring female entrepreneurs are utilizing social media to their advantage, leveraging it to promote their businesses in order to increase their reach.
By lending your support in the form of likes, comments, and shares, your team can help them gain more visibility and potentially even drive income.
So, why not help out a few local fellow female entrepreneurs by taking a few moments to like, comment, and share links to their businesses—you never know what amazing possibilities it could open up for them!
3. Show gratitude
Thank-You campaigns are a great way to celebrate and express gratitude by recognizing the women in your team who have made a difference to you.
By encouraging projects like this, your team can send emails or messages to the special female colleagues they’re thankful for. IWD is a golden opportunity for organizations to truly express thanks and recognize the inspiring women who have impacted the professional lives of their employees.
4. Host or attend an event
One of the most fitting International Women’s Day activities is to host or attend an IWD event!
Whether you’re hosting a lecture or workshop or attending a webinar or panel discussion, this is a fantastic opportunity for your team to hear other women’s experiences and advice and feel inspired to make a difference.
In fact, there are tons of events during this time that you can attend with your team. Let’s take a look at our top events for 2023.
